1. CHIROPRACTIC:

Chiropractic care relieves pain, increases mobility and maintains the health of joints and tissues through safe and effective treatment methods. Our chiropractors utilize many forms of manual therapy as part of their treatments. This may include joint mobilization & manipulation, soft tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, therapeutic modalities and rehabilitative exercise.

2. PHYSIOTHERAPY AND PHYSIOTHERAPEUTIC MODALITIES:

Physiotherapy treatments may include laser therapy, electrotherapy, ultrasound, interferential current, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, codetron, heat, cold therapy, paraffin wax and cervical and back traction. Our therapists also provide hands-on treatment techniques such as soft tissue release, needling, cupping, and joint mobilization and manipulation. Treatments also incorporate the prescription of various tailored exercises in order to improve strength and functional ability. Cardiovascular conditioning and strength training are also available for patients with muscular deconditioning as a result of acute injuries or chronic conditions.

3. ACUPUNCTURE:

Acupuncture is a type of treatment that can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatment modalities. It involves the insertion of thin needles into various meridian points to help decrease pain, increase muscular relaxation, and improve overall health and well-being. At College Chiropractic Clinic we offer both TCM & Neurofunctional (Clinical) Acupuncture in order to treat a variety of conditions.

4. ACTIVE REHABILITATION:

All of our active exercises are supervised by a physiotherapist or chiropractor with extensive experience in human kinetics and rehabilitation. Our equipment enables early implementation of strengthening. Cardiovascular conditioning may include treadmill, upper/lower body ergometer, isometric modes and recumbent cycle. Relevant research supports the premise that cardiovascular enhancement and general fitness contribute significantly to rehabilitation goals.


4.a. Stabilization Program: A Swiss gym ball stabilization program, floor mat program and McKenzie protocols are all utilized to help increase lumbar & core strengthening, disc issues and stabilization.

4b. Proprioceptive Retraining: This treatment reinforces neural motor and sensory pathways to enhance coordination and functional recovery and adaptation. We utilize rocker boards, wobble boards, rolls, proprioceptive sandals, as well as independent exercises and home programs.

4c. Functional Capacity Assessments: We provide functional assessments for MVA, WSIB and ODSP disability as required.

4d. Work Conditioning Program: Patients who require greater strength and endurance in specific job tasks are placed on a 2-4 hour per day work conditioning program. This focuses on the postural and functional aspects requirements for their jobs.

5. MASSAGE THERAPY:

Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints, for the purpose of optimizing health. Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Massage therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation process.

6. ORTHOTICS:

Custom-made orthotics are prescribed to correct a variety of biomechanical dysfunctions that may be contributing to an individuals’ pain. Aberrant foot mechanics may lead to knee pain, low back pain, foot pain and more. Our chiropractors provide biomechanical assessments and are certified to dispense orthotics best suited to your individual needs.
